GVMC Commissioner fines Rs 50,000 for oil tanker parked on the road. Officials told to remove scrap vehicles lying on the roads.

Commissioner of the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has fined heavily of negligent vehicle owners during his visit to various locations in the city on Thursday.

An oil lorry vehicle owner was slapped with a fine of Rs. 50,000 for parking on the road at VUDA Colony at Nadupuru and causing traffic problems. Another merchant unloading vegetable from his vehicle stopped on the road was fined Rs. 10,000 for obstructing the traffic.

The commissioner has also spent time understanding the problems at the 52nd ward. He directed the removal of a night sanitation worker for not clearing the garbage near Vemana Mandiram. He instructed officials to collect a fine of Rs.1000 from every market shop found to be dumping their waste on the roads.

Sending a message to the owners of factories and industries, he ordered that every factory should have a BT / CT road constructed from their premises to the nearest connecting road. He warned that grinders will be erected in front of erring factories who fail to construct the roads.

The Commissioner ordered the Zonal Commissioner to conduct a special drive for the removal of scrap vehicles lying on the roads and that such vehicles are to be transported to a scrap yard identified for the purpose. The vehicles will be released to its claiming owners after collecting a fine from them.
