GVMC Commissioner asks contractor to complete Asilmetta Flyover by year-end. Warns residents of fine of Rs. 5000 for dumping garbage into drains.

The much delayed works of the Asilmetta Flyover and subway should be completed by the year-end, feels GVMC Commissioner B Ramanjaneyulu. He, along with the Chief Engineer B Jayarami Reddy and Chief City Planner D Venkataratnam inspected works of the contractor dealing with the flyover.
The Commissioner assured that pending bills will be ensured payment but asked for a commitment from the contractor to complete the works by the end of the year. He asked for a month-wise plan as to how the contractor wishes to complete the works. The report needs to be signed by the consultants for third-party verification, he said.
Ramanjaneyulu said that debris will be lifted in some Wards and that the bills for the same will be charged to the account of the contractors who failed in their duty to lift the debris. He warned the residents that a file of Rs. 5000 will be imposed if garbage is thrown into the drains.
The Commissioner highlighted the need for constituting neighbourhood committees to supervise the sanitation in their neighbourhood is good. He pointed out there was a sanitation worker for every 50 households.
