T Subbarami Reddy is a senior Congress politician and a Rajya Sabha member. He is also an industrialist, philanthropist and film producer.
Subbarami Reddy was welcomed into politics in 1989 by Vengala Rao. He is elected to the Lok Sabha from Visakhapatnam parliamentary constituency in 1996, 1998 and 1999. He is a Parliament member since 14 years. He has served the people of the district since over 30 years.
He is close to the Gandhi family. He drew inspiration from Rajiv Gandhi and entered politics. He is known to be close to Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi.
Subbarami Reddy played a prominent role in several initiatives for the Visakhapatnam district. His goal is to make Visakhapatnam a Green and pollution free city. He initiated the 40 lakh tree plantation programme in the city without any burden to the exchequer. He also played a key role in getting international services to the Visakhapatnam airport. In 2012, Subbarami Reddy announced that he would like to contest the 2014 Lok Sabha election from Visakhapatnam constituency.
Through the TSR Lalitha Kala Parishad, Subbarami Reddy serves the cultural community. He organized several programmes to honor artists, philanthropists etc. On April 9, 2012 Subbarami Reddy felicitated senior Tollywood actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao for completing 75 years as an actor.
