Telugu Desam Mahila activists stage protests infront of the District Collectorate against rising prices of essential commodities. They cook food in public and serve them to general public.
District Collect Office, November 28, 2011
The Telugu Desam Mahila activists staged a dharna in front of the District Collector against the rising prices of essential commodities. They staged a protest by cooking food in public and later serving it to the general public.
Addressing the activists, TDP Mahila District president Annamareddy Vani said that the government remained indifferent despite organizing several protests against the ricing prices in the past. She said that the government is obsessed with their Re. 1 per kilo rice scheme and is not bothered in controlling the sky-rocketing prices of essential commodities. She said that a kilo of vegetables costs more than Rs. 20 today and questioned how people can survive when the prices are so high. The activists warned the Government that they would take the protests to streets if the government doesn't make any efforts to control the prices of essential commodities. They said that Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy is more concerned about retaining power in the 2014 assembly elections rather than the problems of common man.
Telugu Desam Party State vice-president Bandaru Sathyanarayana Murthy, TDP city president Peela Sreenivasarao, party in-charge for south Assembly constituency Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar, District Telugu Mahila general secretary Adari Manju, city unit general secretary Pentakota Veeralakshmi, vice-presidents B Bramaramba and J Ramadevi and others took part in the protest.
The Telugu Desam Party has staged dharna against government ignoring farmers in September. They also staged demonstration against hike in taxes last year.
