GVMC forms 211 teams to conduct household survey on property tax
Visakha City, September 20, 2011
The household survey taken up by the Greater Visakha Municipal Corporation has begun. A total of 211 teams are formed to perform the household survey on property tax under the supervision of 44 assistant engineers. It was initially estimated that 4.68 lakh houses come under the jurisdiction of GVMC of which only 3.5 lakh have been paying tax.
The Deputy Commissioner of GVMC for Revenue R Somanarayana said that owners or tenants of houses in the region would have to prove the approved plan and tax passbook ready and provide the details to the GVMC team when approached. The owners and tenants should also provide additional details like cable, power, water supply etc. An additional tax of 20 per cent would be levied in case the plan was not produced.
